A jewelry appraisal is performed to put a monetary value on your investments and heirlooms, often for insurance purposes. It may also be necessary to obtain an appraisal for estate or financial settlement purposes.
Any item of jewelry may be appraised, including unmounted gemstones. Because market values change, it is advisable to have appraisals done at regular intervals – every 2-3 years.
